Arsam Lost His Battle Against Heart Disease

Muhammad Arsam's Story
Muhammad Arsam, a 2-year-old boy from Lahore, has lived his entire life with severe breathing difficulties. From the day he was born, Arsam experienced constant shortness of breath and persistent chest discomfort. Even simple joys like playing with his siblings or laughing left him tired, weak, and gasping for air. Arsam’s parents took him to a doctor who conducted thorough examinations and diagnosed him with multiple serious congenital heart defects: Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Pulmonary Atresia (PA), and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).
To save Arsam’s life and improve his heart function, the doctor recommended a complex open-heart surgery called the Rastelli procedure. However, the high cost of this life-saving operation was far beyond what Arsam’s family could afford.
Arsam lives in a modest home in Lahore with his parents and one sibling. His father works as a delivery rider, putting in long hours every day to support the family. Despite his hard work and dedication, he earns only PKR 30,000 per month, which barely covers their essential expenses such as food and utilities. The family’s financial situation left them unable to cover the cost of Arsam’s critical surgery. During this time of need, Arsam’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Understanding the gravity of his condition, we registered his case.
On April 7, 2025, Arsam was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore, and his surgery was performed by Dr. Asim Khan on April 9, 2025. The procedure went smoothly, but Arsam developed unexpected complications during the post-operative period. He was closely monitored and managed with great care in the ICU by the dedicated medical team. Despite their best efforts, Arsam experienced a sudden septic shock and passed away on April 15, 2025.
The loss of Arsam has been deeply heartbreaking for his family and for all of us involved in his case. While every possible measure was taken to save his life, the severity of the complications was beyond recovery. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you and to the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for your generous support during this immensely difficult time.
