Saad Bilal Will Be Dearly Missed

Saad Bilal's Story

Saad Bilal, a 1-year-old boy from Muzaffargarh, had been suffering from chest discomfort, cyanosis, and breathlessness since birth. He was unable to gain weight properly, and even mild to moderate physical activity left him gasping for air. Concerned about his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Saad with Tetralogy of Fallot. His doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond his family’s means.

Saad lived in a modest home with his parents. His father had a visual impairment, yet he continued to provide for his family and worked hard as a daily wage laborer. His monthly income of PKR 20,000 per month was barely sufficient for covering their utility bills, food, and other living expenses. They had no savings and no other resources to pay for Saad’s much-needed surgery. During this time of need, Saad’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked for support. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.

On March 3, 2025, Saad was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. He received preoperative care, and his open-heart surgery was scheduled for March 4, 2025. Dr. Jamal expertly performed the surgery, and Saad was moved to the ICU for expected recovery. His close monitoring was done after the successful surgery. However, his heart failed to recover in the post-operative period. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Saad suffered a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest. He tragically passed away on March 11, 2025.
