There is only one hospital in town which is private. This is why, countless people are deprived of the healthcare that they need. Moreover, people do not have much awareness regarding health issues due to widespread illiteracy and often learn about their disease when it reaches an advanced stage. The main health issues faced by people in Shergarh include water borne diseases such as Gastro and Diarrhea. Dengue virus is another prevalent ailment in the town and needs serious medical attention to prevent deaths.
The months of June/July see a rise in the patients suffering from sunstroke and dehydration. Additionally, a surge in cases of Hepatitis A & E has been observed. Every other household in Shergarh has one patient of either Hepatitis A or E. However, more cases of Hepatitis E have been reported as compared to Hepatitis A.
