Abbas Ali, aged four, a resident of Baddin, has not been able to live his early childhood to the fullest like many others. He suffers from Congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss. When Abbas was a year old, his parents noticed that he was not responding to sounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital. Abbas underwent a number of hearing tests and after the doctor evaluated the reports he was diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. After the diagnosis was done, Abbas’s parents were told to get him a hearing aid device but they could not afford to get it. Over time, his hearing ability could not develop but worsened. Upon further consultation, Abbas’s parents were advised to get him a Cochlear Implant. A cochlear implant receives sound from the outside environment, processes it, and sends small electric currents near the auditory nerve. These electric currents activate the nerve, which then sends a signal to the brain. The brain learns to recognize this signal and the person experiences this as “hearing”.
Abbas’s father retired from serving in the army as a servant and his pension is the only source of their income. That is the sole mean of income and sole earner in the family and has seven people to feed and raise. They rely on him for their basic needs. With minimal income, and no financial support, the hefty cost of this procedure is beyond their affordability.
Abbas’s father shared his ordeal with Transparent Hands in the following manner:
“I was hopeless and helpless about how to get my son’s procedure done. Every parent wishes to do things beyond their affordability for their children but this is something I knew I would never be able to do on my own. Thanks to Transparent Hands for registering my son’s case.”
Abbas’s father found out about Transparent Hands through a friend. He contacted us. Transparent Hands verified and registered Abbas’s case.
Now that Abbas Ali has been registered with Transparent Hands, we are dedicated to help him and bring a whole new sense of sound in his life. But, this is not going to be possible without your donations. Abbas needs your help as soon as possible for him to learn fast and not miss out on his childhood.
