Sonia Zakia's Story

Sonia needs an urgent appendicitis surgery. It has been 3 days since she started feeling terrible pain while carrying out her regular chores at home. Unable to understand how critical the situation is, her mother requested for help from a friend, who brought them to Zainab Memorial Hospital. After Sonia’s checkup, the doctor informed that Sonia’s situation has become very grave. Her appendix has swelled to a great extent and needs to be removed immediately. Sonia is facing extreme pain in her lower abdomen and has a high fever. She has been admitted to the hospital before her situation got any further worse.
Sonia lives with her mother and 3 other sisters in a rented room in Shahdab Colony. Her father left the family when Sonia was little, and her mother managed the family on her own. The mother and her daughters work as maids at different houses. Their earnings are barely enough to cover their food and rent. Sonia’s family cannot cover the costs of the surgery, but it is necessary for her to undergo the surgery immediately, before the swollen appendix within her body bursts and spreads infection.
