Afshan Azeem's Story
Before you dive into the gory details of Afshan’s ailment, please know that you can get her back up to her feet. Therefore, we request that you please donate for Afshan’s knee replacement surgery as much as you can.
For the last six years, Afshan has been feeling pain in the small joints of her body. This pain was diagnosed as Rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis, or RA, is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease, which means that your immune system attacks healthy cells in your body by mistake, causing inflammation (painful swelling) in the affected joints.
For the past two years, the pain in her right knee increased which has affected her mobility as well. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Afshan to undergo a Total Knee Replacement surgery.
Unfortunately, Afshan or her husband cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Afshan’s husband works at a private office and hardly earns PKR 25000 per month. Amid the rising inflation and turbulent economy, Afshan is hardly able to run her household with this money. Therefore, they are in no position to arrange Afshan’s surgery. She told us:
“My life has become a gamble game. Some days my sickness allows me to leave the bed in a most of the days it has me confined to my bed. Some days I am unable to get up and make breakfast for my kids. It pains me to see him go out on an empty stomach.”
After a lot of distress, with the help of her doctor, Afshan has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to get her happy and healthy as soon as we can. But, it won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Afshan’s knee replacement as much as you can.
