Farkhanda Rasheed's Story
Before we tell you about the details of Farkhanda Rasheed’s ailments, please know that only your help can help her get back up on her feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Farkhanda’s knee replacement surgery as much as you can.
Sixty years old Farkhanda Rasheed has been suffering from Osteoarthritis involving both knees for the last thirteen years. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Farkhanda is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her.
To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Farkhanda to undergo a bilateral total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. At first, the orthopaedic will perform this surgery on the left side. Later, after her left leg recovers, it will be performed on her right side. While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Farkhanda’s problems, it is certainly not an accessible solution. Unfortunately, she cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Her monthly family income is PKR 27000 per month, and even after months of saving, they do not have the means to arrange for surgery. Her daughter told us:
“The worst day of my life was when I noticed a limp in my mother’s walk. Fast forward thirteen years later, she has been bedridden for weeks. I do not even know who to ask for help anymore. Transparent Hands is our only hope.”
We cannot even imagine the pain Farkhanda is in. But, we can empathize with her for sure. Her daughter has finally registered her case with Transparent Hands. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Farkhanda’s knee replacement as much as you can. Our help will get her back up on her feet in no time.
