Humaira Shahnaz's Story
Before you dive into the story, we want to let you know that Humaira Shahnaz is in a lot of pain right now. Her financial situation is the only hurdle standing between her and the treatment she needs. Therefore, we urge you to please donate for Humaira’s knee replacement.
For the last year, Humaira has been suffering from Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Humaira Shahnaz is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her.
To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Humaira Shahnaz to undergo a total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Humaira’s problems, it is certainly not an accessible solution. Humaira Shahnaz cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Humaira’s husband is the sole earner of the family. He works at a factory. Despite long shifts and hectic duty, he hardly manages to earn PKR 35,000 per month. With this measly income, he is in no position to arrange for Humaira’s surgery. He told us:
“My wife is in so much pain right now that she has been unable to get up from bed. Whoever is reading this, I request you all to please help me.”
After a lot of distress, Humaira Shahnaz has requested Transparent Hands for help. We have assured her that we would arrange her surgery as soon as possible. Now, all we need is your help. Donate for Humaira’s knee replacement as much as you can.
