Sahab Bibi's Story

As we took her pictures for this campaign, we could see the pain visible from Sahab Bibi’s eyes. Her story of woes reduced us to tears. But, we can help her. You can relieve Sahab Bibi of her pain. Donate for Sahab Bibi’s Arthroplasty as much as you can.

Sahab Bibi has been suffering from diabetes for the last four years. People suffering from diabetes are at an increased risk of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the breakdown of joint cartilage. In this condition, the surfaces of the joint roughen, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. For the last two years, Sahab Bibi has been suffering from pain and immobility in her left shoulder. Over time, the pain increased. Now, Sahab Bibi is unable to move her shoulder at all.

To treat this condition, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised her to undergo a shoulder arthroplasty. Arthroplasty is a surgical procedure to replace the diseased joint with the artificial one and to restore the function of that joint. While shoulder arthroplasty is a swift solution to Sahab Bibi’s pain, it is certainly not an affordable one. Unfortunately, Sahab Bibi cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. She is financially dependent on her son. He works at a pharmacy and hardly earns PKR 28000 per month. Therefore, he is in no position to arrange for his mother’s surgery. He told us:

“My mother does not complain much, you know. She always bears her pain in silence. But lately, it is as if her pain is visible from her face. It kills me to see her suffer like that.”

After a lot of distress, Sahab Bibi’s son has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We have promised him that we would try our best to arrange her surgery as soon as we can. Now, all we need is your kind help. Please donate for Sahab Bibi’s Arthroplasty as much as you can.

Sahab Bibi's Story

Around two years ago, Sahab Bibi now aged 66 years, was walking home from the market. On her way, she tripped and fell on her left shoulder. The shoulder turned sore and painful. She also could not move her arm after that incident as it froze completely. After multiple visits to the doctor over a span of time, her workup revealed that she had osteoarthritis in her left shoulder. The treating physician recommended a total shoulder arthroplasty for her. For this purpose, she was admitted to Akram Medical Complex and her surgery was performed by Dr. Naveed Ali Shair on 3rd June, 2021. Sahab’s frozen arthritic shoulder was replaced for which she stayed in the hospital for three days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. She feels that her shoulder’s condition has improved a great deal since the surgery and its movement is restored.
