Bilal Khan's Story
Bilal Khan is a 4.9 years old child. When he was born, his parents noticed that he did not respond to any of the sounds. He did not listen when his name was called, nor did he respond to any calls from his siblings. His parents got worried and took him to a doctor when he was around 13 months old. The doctor conducted different tests and diagnosed his condition as bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor who examined Bilal also recommended a cochlear implant for him. It is a neuroprosthetic device that is implanted surgically for perception of sounds.
Being a taxi driver, Bilal Khan’s father cannot afford the surgery. He earns only PKR 15,000 per month. They are a total of 8 family members and reside in a 3 Marla house. Bilal’s elder brother is also hearing-impaired.
“Bilal has the most beautiful smile. He is a very intelligent child. I wish he could hear and respond to us.”- Bilal’s mother.
On finding out about their difficult situation, a member of the hospital’s administrative staff told them about Transparent Hands. His father contacted our team in the main office and got his son registered.
Bilal Khan has his whole life ahead of him. Your financial aid is much needed and will be deeply appreciated by his family as the surgery would grant him the gift of hearing.
