Ease the Pain Shehnaz Begum Experiences Due to Gallstones
Shehnaz Begum's Story
Shehnaz Begum, a 45-year-old woman from Karachi, has been suffering from right upper abdominal pain for a year. The symptoms she’s experiencing include nausea, vomiting, and intolerance to fatty meals. Due to persistent pain and discomfort, carrying out her routine tasks along with taking care of her children is significantly challenging. Upon consultation with a doctor, she was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis/Gallstones, the hard mineral stones within the gallbladder. Her doctor has recommended cholecystectomy—a surgery to remove her gallbladder—before her condition worsens.
Once an active and involved mother, Shehnaz’s life has dramatically changed. The severe pain from her gallstones often leaves her bedridden, unable to care for her children or manage her household. Cooking, cleaning, and even getting out of bed have become extremely challenging.
She lives in a 2-marla rented house with her six children and husband. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 20,000 monthly. With a monthly house rent of PKR 7000, and utility bills reaching PKR 2000 per month, they are struggling to make ends meet. Medical expenses have already strained their finances, and they have no savings left to afford this essential surgery. Shehnaz reached out to Transparent Hands and requested us to help her.
Shehnaz Begum said in despair:
“I used to be so active but now I always feel tired due to the constant pain and discomfort. We hardly manage to pay for our basic needs, and this surgery is something we can’t afford. I don’t know how long I will have to suffer from this illness. Please help me.”
This crucial surgery will relieve Shehnaz’s pain and give her back the ability to care for her family and live a normal life. The longer she waits, the more severe her condition will become, potentially leading to complications.
We urge you to come forward and extend your support to Shehnaz Begum. Your donation can help her get the much-needed surgery and restore her health.
