Four-year-old Muhammad, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, has congenital sensorineural hearing loss. When he was a year old and not reacting to their voices, his parents realized that something was wrong. His parents brought him to a local hospital, where he underwent testing. He was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness after consultation. He was advised by the doctor to have cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant stimulates the cochlear nerve electrically in order to restore hearing.

He lives with his parents and two siblings in a rented house. His father is a daily wager and just earns PKR 15,000 per month. He does not wish to leave Muhammad trapped in a silent world. His father expressed distress in the following words:
