Let’s Correct Anisa’s Heart Defects with Surgery

Anisa Noor, an 11-year-old girl from Bahawalpur, has been living with a heart condition since birth. Her childhood has been marked by frequent episodes of breathlessness, chest discomfort, and fatigue that prevent her from enjoying even the simplest activities. Whether it’s walking to school or playing with friends, Anisa often struggles to keep up. Recently, Anisa was taken to a hospital, where she underwent detailed diagnostic testing. The doctor diagnosed Anisa with Tricuspid Atresia, Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Severe Pulmonary Stenosis (PS). These serious congenital heart defects affect the normal flow of blood through her heart and lungs, making oxygenation difficult. Her doctor has advised her to undergo BDG (Bidirectional Glenn Shunt) and Atrial Septectomy to improve blood flow and relieve symptoms.

If Anisa does not undergo this surgery, her condition may worsen. It may lead to life-threatening complications such as heart failure, severe oxygen deprivation, and stunted growth.

Anisa lives with her parents and three siblings in a government-provided house. Her father works as a peon in a government hospital and earns a monthly salary of just PKR 38,000. With household expenses, including PKR 5,000 for utility bills and Rs. 1,500 for educational costs, they barely make ends meet. Affording a high-cost surgery is simply beyond their means.

Anisa’s parents said with teary eyes:

“Anisa’s condition gives us immense worries. She wants to play and enjoy life like other children, but her heart problems hold her back. We are doing everything we can, but the cost of this surgery is far beyond what we can manage. Please help us.”
