Let’s Light Up Safia Bibi’s World
Safia Bibi's Story
Meet Safia Bibi, a 76-year-old spirited woman from a rural area of Lahore, who suffers from hazy and dim vision. While struggling with this condition, she went to a doctor for consultation. The ophthalmologist diagnosed her with a cataract in her right eye and advised Phaco + IOL surgery.
The cataract has filled her life with darkness and Safia is losing connection with her surroundings. Once, she had been a pillar of strength for his family, managing the home, cooking meals, and caring for the children. Unfortunately, the joy in her life has gone now, and she now struggles to see the world.
Safia can’t even perform the daily chores that she once used to manage independently and now needs assistance to do them. She desperately wants to experience her surroundings but the financial constraints are a significant barrier in her path towards recovery. Safia’s life is full of misery and hardships. She has two sons who live separately and don’t support Safia. She lives in her neighbor’s modest 2-marla house and spends her life with financial support from other people. The cost of the surgery is simply beyond her financial means.
Safia described her heartfelt plea as follows:
“I am hopeless and disappointed due to my condition. Everything has faded around me and become dark. I want to get rid of this unfortunate situation which is making me dependent on others. I want to regain my clear sight. Kindly help me undergo the surgery.”
