Let’s Save Hadia’s Life with Heart Surgery

Meet Hadia Fatima, a 2-year-old girl from Hafizabad, who has been facing immense challenges due to a heart disease since birth. She suffers from breathlessness, tiredness, and chest discomfort, which affects her ability to perform even mild to moderate physical activity. She is also unable to gain proper weight and is not growing like other kids of her age. Recently, her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a detailed medical examination, the doctor diagnosed Hadia with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Mitral Regurgitation (MR). These are congenital heart issues that affect the flow of oxygenated blood in her body.

To correct these defects, the doctor has advised VSD closure and MV repair surgery. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s reach. Without this surgery, Hadia’s condition will continue to deteriorate. It may lead to severe complications, and she will not be able to beat the disease.

Hadia lives in a modest rented home with her parents and two siblings. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer and brings in just PKR 25,000 per month. This income is insufficient to cover their utility bills of PKR 5000 in addition to the house rent amounting to PKR 6000 and children’s school fees of PKR 1000. These household expenses leave nothing at the end of the month to save for Hadia’s surgery. Although Hadia’s parents love her dearly and wish to provide her with this life-saving heart surgery, their financial limitations stand in the way of her recovery.  During this time of need, they have reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.

Hadia’s parents said in despair:

“It’s hard to find words for the struggle Hadia is facing. As parents, it is heartbreaking for us to see our child suffer while we remain helpless. You are the only light in our darkest hour. We don’t want to lose Hadia. Kindly be kind and help her undergo the surgery.”
