Mehwish Awaits Surgery to Grow Up Without Heart Issues

Mehwish Shakeel's Story
Mehwish Shakeel, a 1-year-old girl from Bhakkar, has never experienced a healthy childhood. Since birth, she has struggled with shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and bluish skin discoloration. It becomes more noticeable during crying or performing minor physical activity. Mehwish’s family took her to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. After a series of tests and consultations with a doctor, Mehwish was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is a complex congenital heart defect that disrupts the normal flow of blood through the heart. The doctor has recommended open-heart surgery for TOF correction. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is beyond her family’s means.
If Mehwish doesn’t undergo this surgery, her health will continue to deteriorate. It may lead to irreversible heart damage, delayed development, and even the risk of sudden heart failure.
Mehwish lives with her parents and one sibling in their modest home. Her father works as a laborer, earning only PKR 11,000 per month. With utility bills amounting to PKR 2,000 and daily household expenses, the family is left with little to no savings. They are struggling emotionally and financially, unable to bear the high cost of this life-saving surgery. During this challenging time, they have contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help. Mehwish’s parents expressed their heartfelt plea as follows:
“Every day we pray to see Mehwish breathe freely and smile. However, her condition gets worse with time. We can’t afford the surgery, and it makes us feel helpless. We ask you to be kind and contribute for our daughter’s life-saving surgery.”
Your kind support can rewrite the course of her life. By contributing to Mehwish’s surgery, you can help her take her first steps towards a healthy future. Let’s join hands to heal her little heart and gift her the childhood she deserves.
