Bibi Bakhtawar's Story

Bibi Bakhtawar, a 17-year-old girl from Loralai, Balochistan, has been living in darkness for far too long. She suffers from dimness of vision in both eyes, which has made daily life extremely challenging. Even basic tasks like walking or recognizing faces have become difficult. Her eye condition makes it hard for her to focus or engage in daily activities. Her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed Bakhtawar with a cataract in her left eye.

Earlier this year, Bakhtawar underwent surgery on her left eye with support from Transparent Hands. Her right eye is also affected by cataract. The doctor has recommended Phaco + IOL surgery to restore vision in her right eye. However, her family can’t afford the surgery.

Without timely surgery, Bakhtawar’s condition may deteriorate further, leading to complete vision loss in her right eye. She will continue to face involuntary eye closure, blurred vision, and the psychological toll of living with impaired vision.

Bakhtawar belongs to a large family of fourteen members. Her father is a welder who earns only PKR 16,000 per month. They don’t have electricity in their home, and the entire family depends on her father’s modest income. With four sisters, three brothers, and overwhelming household expenses, it is impossible for them to bear the cost of eye surgery.

With a heavy heart, Bakhtawar expressed her emotions as follows:

“I want to see clearly and live normally. I don’t want to lose my eyesight at such a young age. Please support my surgery.”
