Khursheed Bibi's Story

Khursheed Bibi, a 58-year-old woman from Lahore, suffers from a Cataract in her right eye. The symptoms associated with the condition are cloudy and dimmed vision. Simple household tasks like cooking meals, doing the laundry, and maintaining a home have become significantly challenging for her. Due to her visual impairment, she avoids public gatherings where she has to struggle to identify friends and relatives.

She consulted with a doctor for her eye condition. Upon evaluation, the doctor recommended the right Phaco + IOL surgery as the solution to restore her sight.

Khursheed’s family is suffering from financial constraints and is unable to afford the cost of the surgery. She lives in a modest four-marla rented brick house. Khursheed’s husband is the sole breadwinner in the family and hardly makes ends meet. He barely manages to bring in PKR 30,000 a month. Furthermore, the monthly utility bills (PKR 7000) and the rent of the house (PKR 10,000) put a significant financial strain on the family.

Due to the blurry vision, Khurshid feels a disconnection from her surroundings. She is looking for financial support to undergo the surgery.

Khursheed expressed her plea as follows:

“The Cataract has affected my ability to experience my surroundings. I can’t see my child’s face and struggle to do even minor tasks. I feel I have become a burden on others. Please help me undergo this necessary surgery. I will be very grateful.”
