Zohran Bibi's Story

Zohran Bibi, a 68-year-old woman from Lahore, is suffering from short-sightedness and blurred and dim vision. Zohran struggles to see clearly and is unable to enjoy the golden years of her life. She went to a doctor, who diagnosed her with Cataract in her left eye. She faces extreme difficulty in bright sunlight as the glare makes her uncomfortable. Additionally, the Cataract has made it challenging for her to perform tasks like knitting, seeing in the dark, and recognizing faces. The doctor recommended Phaco + IOL surgery to restore her vision.

Zohran can’t perform her daily chores and is dependent upon her family. She bumps into things while walking around the house and doing household tasks. Zohran wants to spend the remaining years of her life with independence. She lives in a small one-room brick house along with her husband and five children. Despite their immense love for Zohran, her family faces financial hardships and can’t pay for her necessary cataract surgery. Zohran’s husband and son work as daily wage laborers. Their combined monthly income is insufficient and they hardly make ends meet. That’s why the cost of the surgery is beyond their financial means.
