Zahid Mahmood's Story

Zahid is a 40 years old man, who lives in a small house inherited by his father in Dharampura, Lahore. In this house, four families are living together including Zahid with his wife and five kids. He has eight month old youngest son whereas his other children are school going. Zahid is a shopkeeper and earns around 500 rupees a day with which he manages to pay for the family expenses and school fees of his kids.

Zahid’s right sided hearing was lost long time ago and he is now suffering from inguinal hernia from last one month. Due to pain, he is having hard time in managing his shop and taking care of his family. He went to a local doctor who recommended him to undergo surgery as there is no medical treatment for his condition. This poor family has no money to pay for the surgical expense of Zahid.
