Abid Mehmood Successfully Overcame His Hip Pain
Abid Mehmood's Story
Abid Mehmood, a 33-year-old man from Okara, was suffering from pain and discomfort in his left hip joint. This condition developed eight years ago when he fell from the stairs and his left hip joint was badly injured. He received symptomatic treatment but his condition worsened over time. Later, he consulted a specialist, who performed an X-ray and some lab tests. After an evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with left hip arthropathy. Abid was unable to carry out even minor tasks. Therefore, his doctor advised left hip total replacement surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for him.
Due to his condition, Abid lost his ability to provide for his family. He lived in a small brick house with his five family members. His brother, the sole breadwinner in the family, was an Imam of a Mosque and earned PKR 40,000 per month. With this modest monthly income, they hardly covered household expenses. The financial strain of his surgery was something that they couldn’t afford, leaving Abid in a desperate situation. That’s when he decided to contact Transparent Hands. After listening to his concerns we registered his case.
On 15th August 2024, Abid was admitted to Medicare Cardiac & General Hospital in Karachi. He received pre-operative care and the surgery took place on 17th August 2024. Dr. Syed Shahid performed his left total hip replacement surgery, giving Abid new hope to live an independent life.
Abid stayed in the hospital for four days and received post-operative care and essential medications. On 20th August 2024, he was discharged in stable condition from the hospital. Abid expressed his happiness as follows:
“I was lost in pain, unable to work or enjoy life. After the surgery, I feel like a new person. I can finally provide for my family again. The relief and happiness you brought into my life are something I will cherish forever.”
After the successful surgery, Abid is hopeful to live a new and healthy life, as his chronic pain and discomfort have gone now. He and his family are thankful to you for making a significant impact on his life.
