Asma Bibi Can Walk Without Pain Now

Asma Bibi's Story

Asma Bibi, a 16-year-old girl from Okara, had been living with constant pain in her right hip for the past ten years following a childhood fall. It severely impacted her ability to walk, stand, and sit comfortably. Asma’s parents took her to a local hospital for a consultation. After a detailed evaluation, including an X-ray and several diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with bilateral hip osteoarthritis. Though both hips were affected, her right hip was causing the most pain and limiting her mobility. The doctor advised her to undergo a right total hip replacement surgery to restore her mobility. However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond what her family could afford.

Asma lived in a small mud house with her parents and six siblings. Her father, the only earning member of the family, worked hard as a daily wage laborer. With a monthly income of just PKR 30,000, he struggled to meet even the most basic needs of the household, including utility bills and food. Saving for a costly procedure was simply not possible. In search of help, Asma’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and we registered her case.

Asma was admitted to the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD) in Lahore. Her right total hip replacement surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem on February 26, 2025. After receiving proper post-operative care, she was discharged on March 1, 2025, in good condition and with new hope.

Asma Bibi said with happiness:

“For years, I watched others walk and play while I stood still in pain. Today, I can walk without fear or discomfort. Thank you for giving me the chance to live like a normal girl again.”

Now, Asma is recovering well and she can walk without pain and move more freely. The pain and discomfort that she was bearing for a long time have gone now.
