Sobia is Grateful to You For Supporting Her Cardiac Surgery
Sobia Waris's Story
Sobia Waris, a 16-year-old girl from Bhakkar, had been struggling with shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and constant fatigue for several years. Even mild physical activities left her exhausted, making it difficult for her to keep up with her daily routine. Frequent chest infections and weakness further affected her health, preventing her from living her teenage years like other girls her age. As her condition continued to worsen, her family grew increasingly concerned about her future.
Sobia went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After conducting detailed examinations and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD), accompanied by Severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR) and Moderate Tricuspid Regurgitation (TR). To improve her heart function and her quality of life, the doctor recommended Mitral Valve Replacement surgery.
Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure was far beyond the family’s financial means. Sobia lives in a modest home with her parents and four siblings. Her father works as a laborer and earns only PKR 25,000 per month. After paying for food, utility bills, and other household necessities, there was no money left to arrange the money required for her surgery. Faced with this difficult situation, the family turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. After listening to their concerns, we registered her case.
On April 23, 2026, Sobia Waris was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed Mitral Valve Replacement surgery on May 5, 2026. The operation was completed successfully, and Sobia remained under close observation during her recovery period. Her condition improved steadily, and she was discharged in stable condition on May 9, 2026.
Sobia’s father expressed his gratitude in the following words:
“We were deeply worried about our daughter’s health and had no means to afford such a costly surgery. It was a painful time for our entire family. Your support has not only saved her life but also lifted a huge burden from our shoulders. We are thankful for your kindness and generosity.”
Her family is grateful to you and the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation (PCHF) for making this surgery possible and giving her the opportunity to have a healthier future.
