Sultan Shah’s Lateral Sphincterotomy was Successful

Syed Sultan Shah's Story
Syed Sultan Shah, a 40-year-old resident of Karachi, had been living with severe discomfort due to perianal discharge for the past four years. Persistent pain during defecation had affected his quality of life. Eventually, he visited a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a Fissure in Ano—a small but painful tear in the lining of the anal canal. The doctor recommended lateral sphincterotomy to relieve the symptoms and restore normal function. However, the cost of the surgery was more than what Sultan could manage.
Sultan lives in a two-room rented house with his wife and one child. He works as a daily wage laborer and is the sole provider for his family. With a monthly income of just PKR 22,000, he struggles to meet basic needs. Their house rent along with utility bills and food costs, leaves little room for medical expenses. With no other option, Sultan reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After listening to his concerns, we quickly registered his case.
Sultan was admitted to Altamash Hospital, Karachi. On February 18, 2025, Dr. Abdul Waheed performed the lateral sphincterotomy successfully. The procedure was smooth, and Sultan found relief from his pain and discomfort. After receiving post-operative care, he was discharged in satisfactory condition on February 19, 2025.
After years of pain, Sultan can finally return to his daily life without discomfort. He shared his thoughts as follows:
“After suffering for a long time, I’ve finally found relief. Thank you for helping me when I had no one to turn to. Your support has brought comfort back into my life.”
Through your donations, Sultan has regained his health and dignity. You’ve made a meaningful difference in his life and restored his hope for a better future.
Sultan’s family will never forget your generosity.
