Sundas Iftikhar's Story

Sundas Iftikhar, a 30-year-old resident of Lahore, was experiencing sharp abdominal pain and a lump in the central region of her belly. The lump kept growing in size and gave her extreme discomfort. She visited the local hospital and received a medical consultation. After running some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed Sundas with Paraumbilical Hernia. The doctor recommended a mesh hernioplasty, a surgical procedure to repair the hernia as well as an abdominal lipectomy to remove the excess fat and loose skin in the affected area. The cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial capacity.

Sundas lives in a small house with her husband, two children, and in-laws. Her husband works as a daily wager and makes PKR 30,000 monthly. He hardly manages the household bills and educational expenses. The financial strain of the Sundas’s surgery weighed heavily on her husband. However, Sundas desperately needed the surgery as she couldn’t care for her children and carry out her routine tasks.

Due to their financial hardships, Sundas’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us to register her case. Thanks to the kind-hearted donors, Sundas was able to undergo the surgery.

On 27-06-2024, Sundas Iftikhar was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital. Dr. Ahmed Fawad performed her Mesh Hernioplasty + Lipectomy procedure. The surgery was a remarkable success and Sundas was discharged in a stable condition on 29-06-2024. During her stay in the hospital, she received essential medications and critical care.
