You Empowered Bibi Bakhtawar With Cataract Surgery

Bibi Bakhtawar's Story

Bibi Bakhtawar, a 17-year-old girl from Loralai, Balochistan, was facing issues due to visual impairment. She was unable to see clearly, and it became difficult for her to help her mother manage the household. Her blurry and dim vision became a significant obstacle in her life. Worried about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Bakhtawar with a cataract in her left eye. To enable her to see clearly, the doctor recommended left Phaco + IOL surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Bakhtawar’s family.

Bakhtawar lived in a small home with her joint family. Her father, the sole earner in the family, worked as a welder and made just PKR 16,000 per month. They were surviving in extreme poverty and didn’t even have electricity in their home. Their meager income went towards feeding the large family of fourteen. With so many expenses, saving for Bakhtawar’s surgery was impossible for them. During this time of despair, they turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we promptly registered her case.

On April 7, 2025, Bakhtawar was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust Hospital in Multan. Dr. Syed Hassan Raza successfully performed her eye surgery on April 8, 2025.

Bakhtawar’s parents expressed their emotions as follows:
