You Secured Bilal’s Future Through Heart Surgery
Bilal Ali's Story
Bilal Ali, a 2-year-old boy from Lahore, had been struggling with breathlessness, recurrent chest infections, and extreme weakness since birth. While children of his age were learning to run, play, and explore the world around them, Bilal often found himself exhausted after even minor physical activity. Fearing for their son’s health, they received medical help. Following a series of detailed examinations and diagnostic tests, doctors diagnosed Bilal with Doubly Committed Subarterial Ventricular Septal Defect (DCSA-VSD), Right Coronary Cusp (RCC) Prolapse, and Mild Aortic Regurgitation (AR). To prevent further complications and improve his quality of life, the cardiac team recommended open-heart surgery for VSD closure. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond the family’s reach.
Bilal lives in a slum area with his parents and six siblings. His father works as a daily wage laborer and earns approximately PKR 25,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food, utility payments, and other necessities for a family of nine. With no savings available for specialized medical treatment, the family felt helpless. During this difficult time, they turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.
On May 3, 2026, Bilal Ali was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, for pre-operative assessment and preparation. After completing all necessary investigations, Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed open-heart surgery for VSD closure on May 4, 2026. The procedure was completed successfully, and he was discharged in stable condition on May 8, 2026.
Bilal’s father expressed his gratitude in the following words:
“We had reached a point where we did not know how to save our son. Watching him struggle for breath every day was heartbreaking. Your support gave our child a second chance at life. We are deeply thankful for your kindness and generosity.”
Bilal is now recovering well and showing encouraging signs of improvement. As he regains his strength, he will be able to enjoy a healthier childhood and participate in activities that were once difficult for him.
His family is grateful to you and the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation (PCHF) for saving his life and making this life-changing treatment possible.
