Muhammad Shafi's Story

Muhammad Shafi, a 60-year-old man from Lahore, had been experiencing pain due to a lump in his right inguinal region for several months. What began as a slight discomfort in his right groin gradually worsened into a painful swelling that made even the simplest movements—standing, sitting, or walking—extremely difficult. Worried about his deteriorating condition, Shafi finally visited a local hospital. After a detailed medical checkup, the doctor diagnosed him with a right inguinal hernia. The recommended solution was a right inguinal hernioplasty—a surgical procedure to repair the hernia. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond Shafi’s financial reach.

Shafi lived in a small rented house with his wife and their only child. He is a security guard, and his wife works as a seamstress from home to help manage household expenses. Despite their best efforts, the couple earns just PKR 28,000 a month, barely enough to cover rent, food, and basic necessities. There was no way they could afford the surgery on their own. During their search for support, the family came across Transparent Hands. Moved by Shafi’s situation, we registered his case and took swift action to help him get the much-needed treatment.

Shafi was admitted to Evercare Hospital on February 27, 2025, where his surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Ahmed. The procedure went smoothly, and after receiving proper post-operative care, he was discharged in stable condition on February 28, 2025.
