Transparent Hands is Helping 100,000 Flood Victims Who Await Urgent Medical Care & Food
This year’s floods have claimed innumerable lives, destroyed around 300,000 homes, and affected over 33 million people across Pakistan. Almost a third of the country is likely to be inundated due to the unprecedented floods.
The displaced people are looking for shelter, food, and medical care. Since the prevalence of diseases increases in flood-affected areas due to the lack of clean water and sanitation, Transparent Hands is arranging free medical camps in some of the most impacted parts of the country. We are also providing bags of food to thousands of starving flood victims. Our free medical camps and food distribution program will cost around PKR 37,964,000/- or USD 168,027/-.

Transparent Hands, with the sponsorship of Sabira Hamida Trust, recently organized a flood relief camp to help flood-hit families. The flood relief camp was held in the village of Veer Nath, Taluka Khair Pur Nathan Shah, District Dadu, Sindh, on October 14, 2022.

The prevalence of water and vector-borne diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, Typhoid, and Diarrhea has increased in flood-affected areas. Our medical team, which included male and female doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, provided a wide range of healthcare services to flood victims. The patients received:

Most Common Diseases
The flood affectees were diagnosed with health problems such as malaria, typhoid, flu, fever, cough, cold, chest pain, seasonal allergies, scabies, skin infections, earache, asthma, diarrhea, vomiting, high blood pressure, and joint/body pain. Seven surgical cases were also found during this flood relief camp.
Preventive Healthcare Session
A doctor held a preventive healthcare session for all attendees at the medical camp. The doctor advised the attendees to use mosquito nets and repellents to prevent malaria and dengue.
Impact
Around 1760 flood relief victims were facilities through this camp in Dadu, Sindh. With the support of sponsors like Sabira Hamida Trust and thousands of donors, we are now expanding our program to help a greater number of flood affectees all across Pakistan.

The doctor also emphasized the importance of taking a proper bath each day, washing clothes regularly, and taking care of dental hygiene and wounds.

2452 Flood Victims Benefited from Our Food Distribution Program
Under our food distribution program, we handed out food packs to the flood affectees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Each food pack contained all the essentials a family needs to survive. Around 2452 flood affectees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa benefited from this program in September 2022.
Flood Relief Camps
Transparent Hands held a total of six flood relief camps in some of the most affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Bahria Foundation participated in the flood relief camps in Balakot and Kaghan and supported some of the arrangements. Commodore Naimat Ullah (Pakistan Navy) appreciated our flood relief efforts in Balakot. Alkhidmat Foundation participated in our Nowshera medical camps.
Preventive Healthcare Sessions
Our team of doctors and medical staff also held preventive healthcare sessions at the camps to raise awareness about various health issues that are caused by floods. The sessions focused on

Impact
Transparent Hands’ free healthcare services and food distribution program helped more than 12988 flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A large number of women and children also received medical care, food packs, and blankets. With the support of hundreds of donors, sponsors, and participating organizations, we have completed the first phase of our flood relief efforts. We are now expanding our program to help a greater number of flood affectees all across Pakistan.
Flood Relief Camp Team
The flood relief camp team consisted of 16 members: a supervisor, four doctors (two females and two males), three female nurses, two pharmacists, a lab technician, two registrars, a photographer, and two crew workers. Our team of doctors included physicians, pediatricians, and gynecologists.
