Challenge:

Korangi is one of the neighborhoods of Korangi District, Landhi Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Despite being one of the earliest settled and the most densely populated part of Karachi, Korangi, sadly remains largely neglected in terms of health care facilities. People living in urban areas in Karachi have access to primary healthcare in the city as it is home to some major hospitals. However, since people in nearby slums and underprivileged areas are deprived of such facilities due to a lack of resources, they are more susceptible to diseases. Moreover, Karachi’s major hospitals see an influx of patients from these surrounding areas and are hence understaffed and overburdened.

Therefore, due to medical negligence, the underprivileged areas are constantly at a greater risk of general health-related complications like blood pressure, diabetes, and stomach issues on an escalated level.

Our Solution:

Transparent Hands intends to gauge the possibility of providing basic health care that is the foremost right of every individual. We look forward to organizing a one-day medical camp at, Korangi, Karachi, to provide free consultation and medicines to deserving patients. Transparent Hands recently held a free medical camp at Korangi with a preventive healthcare session to ensure that impoverished patients have access to quality healthcare. The free medical camp was held at Korangi No. 5 DMC and Education Zonal District Office, Karachi, on February 27, 2023.

Preventive Healthcare Session

Our specialist and experienced doctors addressed the audience at a preventive healthcare session at the medical camp. They discussed the importance of using clean and safe water, practicing good personal hygiene, and the safe disposal of human waste

Impact

The free medical camp at Korangi No. 5 DMC and Education Zonal District Office, Karachi, made a big difference in the lives of 405 deserving patients and their families.
