Challenges
Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, has several health challenges. The city’s rapid population growth has put immense strain on its healthcare infrastructure, resulting in overcrowded hospitals and limited access to high-quality medical care. Additionally, Karachi faces significant burdens from infectious diseases, including waterborne illnesses and communicable diseases. Furthermore, the prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular ailments is steadily increasing, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced preventive healthcare measures.
Our Solution
The health camp is dedicated to addressing the healthcare challenges faced by underserved laborers in this city. Its primary objective is to provide immediate medical assistance, diagnosis, and treatment to laborers who lack regular access to healthcare facilities. The camp will offer general medical check-ups, diagnostic tests, and free medicines, while also emphasizing the importance of preventive measures and hygiene practices. By directly bringing healthcare services to the community, the camp aims to overcome barriers such as distance and limited accessibility. Patients requiring surgeries or other treatments will be registered with Transparent Hands and referred to our network of hospitals. Transparent Hands recently organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session on January 20, 2024, at Unit 07, Soorty Enterprises, Karachi's Korangi Industrial Area. This impactful initiative underscored our commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring that even the most disadvantaged individuals received the medical care they urgently needed.
Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests
A total of 515 deserving patients received free consultations with expert doctors. They were also provided with free medicines, diabetes tests, hepatitis B and C screenings, malaria tests, CBC, hemoglobin tests, LFT, RFT, ultrasound examinations, blood pressure checks, and general health checkups. Additionally, a total of 181 diagnostic tests were conducted to ensure a thorough evaluation of their health conditions.
Preventive Healthcare Session on Personal Hygiene
One of our expert doctors held a preventive healthcare session for the attendees focusing on personal hygiene.
Diseases and Treatments
Most of the patients who sought consultation were suffering from fever, cough, flu, throat infection, chest congestion, toothache, earache, calcium deficiency, body weakness, joint pain, body pain, migraine, kidney problems, mouth ulcers, high blood pressure, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and diabetes.
Impact
The free medical camp held in Karachi had a transformative impact on the lives of 515 deserving patients and their families. It provided them with access to essential healthcare services that would have otherwise been beyond their reach due to financial constraints. Through free medical consultations and diagnostic tests, the camp addressed immediate healthcare needs and ensured that patients received the necessary care and attention they required for their well-being.
In addition to immediate medical care, the camp also offered preventive healthcare sessions that proved to be invaluable.
