The following hadith related to Ramadan speaks of its importance: The Prophet (PBUH) was asked which fast was most virtuous after Ramadan? He said: “Sha’ban in honor of Ramadan” He said: “Which charity is best?” He (PBUH) said: “Charity in Ramadan.”

It is recommended that the following dua should be recited before breaking the fast in Ramadan: “Dhahaba al-zama wa’btalat al-‘uruq wa thabata al-ajr in sha Allah” [Abu Dawud: 2357]
