Challenges

Karachi faces major health challenges due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure and overcrowded hospitals. Limited access to quality medical care is a significant concern. The city also grapples with a high burden of infectious diseases like typhoid and cholera, mainly caused by poor sanitation and water quality. Communicable diseases such as tuberculosis and hepatitis remain prevalent. Non-communicable diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory ailments are on the rise, largely due to sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy diets, and tobacco use.
