Challenge:
Shergarh is a small town located in Okara District of Punjab, Pakistan. The majority of the population of Shergarh is deprived of basic health facilities. There is only one hospital in town which is private. This is why countless people are deprived of the healthcare that they need. Moreover, people do not have much awareness regarding health issues due to widespread illiteracy and often learn about their disease when it reaches an advanced stage. The main health issues faced by people in Shergarh include water-borne diseases such as Gastro and Diarrhea. Dengue virus is another prevalent ailment in the town and needs serious medical attention to prevent deaths.
The months of June/July see a rise in the patients suffering from sunstroke and dehydration. Additionally, a surge in cases of Hepatitis A & E has been observed. Every other household in Shergarh has one patient of either Hepatitis A or E. However, more cases of Hepatitis E have been reported as compared to Hepatitis A.
Our Solution:
In this medical camp, Transparent Hands and its team will take care of the basic health requirements of patients including men, women and children from Shergarh and surrounding areas. The camp will help the patients to get proper treatment and create awareness about common health issues by educating them on ways to avoid disease and live a healthy life. It will also help the organization to identify and register cases of medical procedures/surgery.
Donate for the healthcare of the people of Shergarh. Even a penny will count!
Transparent Hands organized and managed a free Medical and Surgical camp on March 06, 2021 at Daud Bandagi Hospital, Akhtar Abad Shergarh Road, in the city of Shergarh. This camp was set up for the underprivileged residing in the said locality. The camp team consisted of twenty members including a supervisor, three doctors (two male and one female), two pharmacists, two lab technologists, two patient registrars, two photographers, four female nurses, and four crew workers. Free face masks were distributed among the patients and all other attendees. In total one hundred and eighty-eight patients were provided free consultation and medicines. Testing facilities for Hepatitis B and C, Eye Cataracts, Blood Sugar Levels, and Blood Pressure were also provided.
The medical camp organized by Transparent Hands has played an instrumental role in assisting the one hundred and eighty-eight patients that turned up at the Shergarh medical camp. Two surgical cases including an eye cataract removal and four Hepatitis C positive cases have been registered with us. Further medical and surgical care shall be provided to the said registered patients. In the future, we look forward to organizing such camps where we can be of service to underprivileged patients in Pakistan and facilitate them with health care. We believe health care to be a primary and basic right of all human beings.
