Transparent Hands and The Patient’s Behbud Society for AKUH Collaborate to Provide Free Treatments

MOU

Transparent Hands signed a life-saving MoU with The Patients’ Behbud Society (PBS) for The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) to expand collaboration between the two organizations. This partnership extends support beyond free pediatric cardiac surgeries to also help underprivileged patients with a wide range of surgical and medical treatments.

Mr. Raheel Abbas (Director of Operations, Transparent Hands) and Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon (President, PBS for AKUH) signed the agreement on February 9, 2026

Under the agreement, Transparent Hands will provide financial support for the treatment of the deserving patients, covering up to 50% of treatment costs. The rest of the amount will be managed through the PBS and the Patient Welfare Program. Hence, the patients supported under this initiative will receive completely free treatment. Transparent Hands will also identify and refer potential patients from deserving communities in Pakistan. They will visit AKUH for clinical examination, investigations, diagnosis, and selection for surgical interventions. The scope of treatment includes pediatric cardiac surgeries, adult cardiac surgeries (limited to CABG), non-cardiac pediatric surgeries, general surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries (knee and hip replacement).

While signing the MOU, Mr. Raheel Abbas (Director of Operations, Transparent Hands) said, “We are fully determined to bridge the healthcare gap for underprivileged patients. We are extremely happy to establish a stronger partnership with PBS for AKUH and see it as a major milestone in providing assistance to needy patients. We are thankful to PBS for AKUH for their continual support, and we sincerely believe that this collaboration will save many lives.”

This collaboration will significantly improve access to quality treatments for many poor patients. Both organizations are optimistic that they will save many lives and promote equitable healthcare, creating a lasting impact on low-income communities in Pakistan.
