A Ray of Hope: The Life-Changing Free Medical Camp in Jhelum

A free medical camp in Jhelum with a preventive healthcare session was recently held by Transparent Hands to provide low-income people with access to high-quality medical care. The free medical camp was held at Govt. Primary School Kot Bidhar, Jhelum, on June 18, 2023. 

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

During the camp, 326 deserving patients were provided with free consultations by expert doctors. In addition to the consultations, various essential medical services were also offered at no cost, including medicines, diabetes tests, uric acid tests, hepatitis B and C screenings, LFTs (Liver Function Tests), RFTs (Renal Function Tests), Ultrasound/cholesterol tests, and blood pressure check-ups.

Diseases and Treatments

Most of the patients who sought consultation were suffering from fever, flu, cough, migraine, vomiting, seasonal allergies, eye infections, earaches, asthma, throat infections, heart issues, chest infections, diarrhea, abdominal pain, cholesterol, uric acid, urine infections, kidney pain, anemia, hepatitis, jaundice, and anemia. Free medicines were given to a large number of deserving patients. No surgical case was registered. A total of 165 screening tests were also conducted. 

Preventive Healthcare Session on Hypertension

During the free medical camp, an expert doctor conducted a preventive healthcare session for the attendees. The session focused on the prevention and management of hypertension and diabetes

The free medical camp in Jhelum profoundly impacted the lives of 326 deserving patients and their families. It served as a beacon of hope, delivering crucial healthcare services to those in need. With a focus on providing access to quality care, the camp offered free consultations and essential medical services to impoverished patients. The preventive healthcare session held during the camp imparted valuable knowledge on hypertension and diabetes management and healthy lifestyle practices. This comprehensive approach positively influenced the community’s healthcare outcomes, raising awareness and empowering individuals to take charge of their own health. The unwavering support of numerous donors who shared Transparent Hands’ mission of providing high-quality healthcare to underprivileged communities, even in remote and rural areas, made the camp’s success possible.

Medical Camp Team

The medical camp team consisted of 18 members, including one supervisor, three doctors (two males and one female), one ultrasound assistant, five lab technicians, two pharmacists, three patient registrars /crew members, two staff nurses, and one photographer. Some volunteers from Superior University also participated in the camp.
