Transparent Hands organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session in Bakhar Jamali Goth, a rural area in Tehsil Johi, District Dadu, Sindh, with the goal of bringing quality healthcare within reach of low-income patients.

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

A total of 322 deserving patients received free consultations from expert doctors. Services offered at the camp were:

  • Free Consultations
  • First Aid
  • Medicines
  • Hepatitis B & C Screenings
  • Blood Sugar Test
  • Blood Pressure Checkup
  • Uric Acid Test
  • Cholesterol Test
  • Typhoid Test

Diseases and Treatments

Most of the patients who sought consultation were suffering from flu, fever, cough, chest infection, asthma, seasonal allergies, diarrhea, diabetes, body pain, hypertension, gastric problems, epigastric pain, abdominal pain,  diarrhea, watery eyes, anemia, measles, UTI, backache, clubfoot, and hepatitis B and C. The fact that these diseases are common in these areas shows that the healthcare system is not as good as it could be. Therefore, the medical camp played an important role in detecting and treating these diseases, thereby mitigating their effect on the community’s health. By providing diagnosis, treatment, and screening services, the medical team aided in the early detection of diseases, allowing for effective treatment and reducing the risk of complications.

Preventive Healthcare Session

The doctor at the medical camp briefed the attendees and placed emphasis on maintaining good personal hygiene, emphasizing the importance of hand washing, keeping oneself and surroundings clean, and maintaining good oral hygiene. The goal of the session was to teach people how to keep diseases from spreading by taking care of themselves. This is especially important in places where there aren’t many medical facilities.

Impact

The free medical camp organized by Transparent Hands in Bakhar Jamali Goth had a tremendous impact on the lives of the 322 underprivileged residents of this marginalized community. By providing diagnosis, treatment, and screening services, the medical team was able to detect and treat prevalent diseases, thereby improving the community’s health outcomes. Moreover, by providing a preventive healthcare session, the medical team aimed to empower attendees with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health and prevent future illnesses.

The success of this medical camp was made possible due to the generous support of thousands of donors who share the vision of improving the health outcomes of marginalized communities in the country. With their continued support, Transparent Hands can expand its outreach and provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to even more individuals and communities in need. By addressing the healthcare needs of underprivileged communities, Transparent Hands is empowering individuals and communities to live healthier, more productive lives.
