Transparent Hands organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session for deserving mothers and children belonging to Karachi’s low-income communities. It was held at Ramzan Lasi Goth Community Center, Near Momin Masjid Chaman Colony, Khokhrapar No 5, Malir, Karachi, on May 17, 2025. The medical camp brought essential medical assistance and nutritional guidance to the underprivileged community of Khokhrapar.

Free Healthcare Services 

A total of 355 deserving patients received free consultations from our specialists, including a gynecologist, a child specialist, and a nutritionist. Along with gynecological check-ups, nutritional assessments, and consultations, the patients were provided with free medicines and received various healthcare services including:

  •         Nutritional screenings for children
  •         BMI calculation
  •         Ultrasound scans
  •         Consultations with a pediatrician 
  •         Gynecological check-ups for women
  •         Blood sugar tests
  •         Hemoglobin Tests
  •         Hepatitis Screenings
  •         Blood Pressure check-ups

Common Health-Related Issues

At this free medical camp, mothers and children received consultations for various health-related issues, including:

  •         Pregnancy Induced Hypertension
  •         Anemia, Low HB level in pregnant women
  •         Fever, cough, flu, chest congestion
  •         Gynecological issues, Infertility, Menstrual irregularities 
  •         Diabetes, High blood pressure
  •         Malnutrition, Fatty liver

Preventive Healthcare Session

Alongside the medical services, one of our expert doctors conducted a preventive healthcare session. They educated attendees about antenatal nutrition, the importance of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), and the benefits of consuming an iron-rich diet to prevent iron-deficiency anemia.

Impact

This free medical camp made a valuable impact on the lives of 355 deserving patients in Khokhrapar. It brought much-needed healthcare services to numerous families who had long struggled without access to quality healthcare. Many mothers had been experiencing health-related issues, while children faced challenges that affected their overall well-being. Through this camp, they finally received thorough check-ups, essential medicines, and expert guidance on nutrition and child care.
