Challenge:

When a young man arrived at the medical camp organized by Transparent Hands in Wazirabad in April 2019, he was certain that he would die because of hepatitis C. He was looking extremely tired and complained of sore muscles, fever, joint pain, nausea and stomach pain. When he knew that his disease is curable with the help of medicines over a period of a few months, he couldn’t believe it. There were a few other patients with the same condition who were diagnosed with HCV in the camp.

Hepatitis has now become the global public health issue with the number increasing alarmingly in Pakistan especially in Punjab. According to a report, around 11 million people are suffering from HCV across Pakistan and the majority is unaware of this disease. Due to poor socioeconomic state and lack of awareness in rural areas of Pakistan, hepatitis is increasing day by day and Wazirabad is no exception. The main causes of HCV here include; unsafe medical procedures, unsafe blood transfusion, unhygienic instruments such as used razors and syringes etc.

Our Solution:

While prevention is the key to fight these diseases, access to better healthcare facilities is essential to save the lives of those affected with viral infections. Transparent Hands is determined to alleviate the sufferings of the rural community in Wazirabad, Punjab by providing them free and quality healthcare services and Hepatitis screening.

To ensure that the required healthcare is provided to the deserving patients, we need your support. Donate for our medical camp and be a part of our life-saving mission!
