Challenges

Mahalam Khurd, like many other areas, is facing multiple health challenges due to the occurrence of common diseases and illnesses. The lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation exacerbates the occurrence of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid. Furthermore, limited healthcare infrastructure and a shortage of healthcare professionals pose obstacles to obtaining essential medical care. Respiratory illnesses, vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue fever, and malnutrition are also widespread concerns within this rural community.

Our Solution

The main objective of this free medical camp is to empower the community by educating them about various health issues, their symptoms, and the importance of seeking proper diagnosis. This camp aims to provide invaluable services such as free consultations, medicines, and diagnostic tests, facilitated by experienced doctors and specialists. Additionally, we ensure referrals to hospitals for surgeries or other necessary medical procedures.

Transparent Hands held a free medical camp on 20th December 2023 at Dera Haji Muhammad Sharif Mahlam Khurd, Kasur, to provide quality healthcare to impoverished patients.

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

A total of 278 deserving patients received free consultations with expert doctors and were also provided with free medicines, diabetes tests, uric acid tests, hepatitis B & C screenings, ultrasounds, cholesterol check-ups, and blood pressure check-ups. Furthermore, a total of 157 diagnostic tests were conducted, all provided without any charges.

Diseases and Treatments

During the medical camp, patients sought consultation for a range of health conditions, including flu, allergies, scabies, fever, diabetes, body pains, cough, stomach issues, typhoid, cholera, and anemia.

Impact

The free medical camp held in Kasur had a significant impact on the lives of 278 deserving patients and their families. Through the camp, we were able to provide quality healthcare services, including consultations, diagnostic tests, and medications, to address a wide range of health conditions.

The medical camp team consisted of 10 members, including one supervisor, three doctors (one male and two females), one lab technician, one pharmacist, two patient registrars /crew members, one staff nurse, and one photographer.
