Challenges

In Chakwal, a region characterized by unique health challenges, prevalent diseases such as respiratory infections (pneumonia, bronchitis), gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, gastroenteritis), vector-borne diseases (dengue fever, malaria), chronic conditions (hypertension, diabetes), skin infections, waterborne illnesses, and malnutrition impact the local population. To address these health concerns, comprehensive healthcare programs encompassing preventive measures, early detection, and improved accessibility to treatments are crucial.

Transparent Hands recently organized a free medical camp and a preventive healthcare session to provide quality healthcare to patients who are living in poverty. The free medical camp took place in Photaki near Malhal Mughlan, Chakwal, on November 10, 2023. 

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

A total number of 178 deserving patients were able to avail themselves of free consultations with experienced doctors. In addition, they were provided with free medicines, diabetes tests, uric acid tests, screenings for hepatitis B and C, ultrasounds, cholesterol checks, blood pressure evaluations, and a total of 112 diagnostic tests.

Diseases and Treatments

Most of the patients who sought consultation were suffering from fever, cough, flu, chest infection, toothache, earache, scabies, diarrhea, diabetes, urine infection, stomach ulcers, anemia, and body pain. There was no surgical case registered during the free medical camp. 

Preventive Healthcare Session

One of our expert doctors held a preventive healthcare session for the attendees at the free medical camp. The session focused on the prevention and management and prevention of high blood pressure. 

Impact

The free medical camp and preventive healthcare session organized by Transparent Hands had a significant impact on the lives of 178 deserving patients and their families. These patients received free consultations with experienced doctors, along with essential medicines and diagnostic tests. 

Additionally, a preventive healthcare session was conducted, focusing on the prevention and management of high blood pressure. This session provided valuable information to the attendees, enabling them to take proactive measures to maintain their health. The success of this initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts of all team members. 

The impact of this free medical camp extends beyond the immediate beneficiaries. Thousands of donors are actively supporting our mission to expand access to quality healthcare in impoverished, remote, and rural areas of the country.

The medical camp team consisted of eleven members, including one supervisor, three doctors (One male and two females), one lab technician, two pharmacists, two patient registrars /crew members, one volunteer, and one photographer.
