Challenge:

50 percent of Pakistan’s population resides in rural areas. These areas lack access to basic necessities such as clean water, electricity and sanitation. Due to these grim circumstances, residents of these rural areas are at a greater risk of various health-related complications. In rural areas and villages, most of the population earns its livelihood by working in the fields all day. Therefore, they are more susceptible to skin allergies, heat strokes, iron deficiency etc. Moreover, due to poverty and malnutrition, the residents of Chak no. 159 have developed several health conditions such as stunted growth and weakness.

People living in urban areas near district Pakpattan have access to primary healthcare in the city as it is home to some major hospitals. However, since people in nearby villages are deprived of such facilities due to a lack of resources, they are more susceptible to diseases. Moreover, the district’s major hospitals see an influx of patients from these surrounding areas and are hence understaffed and overburdened.

Our Solution:

Team Transparent Hands will address the basic health needs of men, women, and children living in Chak no. 159  and surrounding areas. A free medical camp will be conducted there, which will help the patients to identify their health issues and register for treatment. Moreover, they will also be taught preventive measures against certain diseases along with methods to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Celebrity Yumna Zaidi and her sister Mehreen Zaidi along with their social welfare initiative by the name Team Zaidi Shah collaborated with Transparent Hands to organize a Medical and Surgical Camp on 1st July 2021, at Chak no. 159 East Bank, near Arifwala Punjab. Testing facilities for Hepatitis B and C, blood sugar level, and blood pressure were provided. In total 396 patients were provided free consultation and medicines.

The medical camp organized by Transparent Hands has played an instrumental role in assisting 396 patients that turned up at the Arifwala Medical Camp. The majority of the cases examined by the doctors consisted of patients suffering from various types of allergies, throat infections, stomach issues, hypertension, joints, and muscular pains. Free, appropriate medication was provided to such patients.  2 medical and surgical cases, 12 Hepatitis C positive cases and one case of gynecology have been registered with us for treatment. Further medical and surgical care shall be provided to the said registered patients.
