Challenges:
The infamous decade long war on terrorism has left the region severly impacted. Nowshera District is bordered by Mardan District to the north. Presently, an economic zone is planned under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) near Rashakai that borders Mardan. This economic zone is hoped to resurrect the region in near future. But presently COVID-19 has added another dimension to the pre-existing economic, social and medical health care challenges. Under normal circumstances due to provision of limited health care facilities, most diseases go unnoticed and therefore remain untreated. Presently, saturation of patients at public hospitals is further leaving non-COVID patients devoid of basic health care facilities. Moreover, more than 70 percent of the local population dwells in the rural setting. It is common knowledge that poor living standards result in adverse effects on general health and wellbeing of the residents, causing short-term illnesses such as eye, nose, and throat infections, Hepatitis, Diabetes and Hypertension. Over time, the mentioned illnesses have the potential of becoming acute. Presently, though the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has distributed Health cards to its citizens, the public health sector remains burdened to its maximum capacity due to COVID-19, making access to basic health care a great difficulty.
Our Solution:
Transparent Hands intends to gauge the possibility of providing basic health care that is the foremost right of every individual. We look forward to organizing a one-day medical camp at District Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to provide free consultation and medicines to the deserving patients.
