Challenge:
Umerkot is the 68th largest city in Pakistan, with a steadily growing population. Mainly home to marginalized farming communities, Umerkot has seen an increase in population due to its well-connectedness to major cities like Karachi in the province of Sindh. The city, however, is plagued by poverty, droughts, lack of clean water and food shortage, all of which have caused the rise of several healthcare problems in the population. These include water-borne illnesses like cholera and typhoid, hepatitis due to unsanitary conditions as well as deficiencies from malnutrition.
Since the healthcare sector is severely underfunded, healthcare institutions in the city are unable to keep up with the ever-growing issues, leaving residents untreated or even undiagnosed. This is not only causing suffering in the people of Umerkot but is also leading to the uncontrolled spread of dangerous infections like hepatitis and typhoid.
Our Solution:
Transparent Hands has taken the initiative to provide healthcare facilities in Umerkot by arranging a medical camp there. The aim of this camp is to try and meet some of the unmet healthcare needs of the city’s citizens. All patients attending this camp will be given careful attention. Along with the provision of free medicines and diagnostic facilities, any cases requiring extensive treatment will be assessed and registered with the organization.
Help us bring quality healthcare services to the deserving inhabitants of Umerkot.
