Abida Kanwal's Story

Abida Kanwal, a 28-year-old woman from Multan, is 33 weeks pregnant and eagerly awaiting the arrival of her third child. She has previously delivered both of her children through C-sections. After her recent medical check-up, the doctor advised another C-section to ensure the safe delivery of her baby. Unfortunately, the cost of the C-section is beyond her family’s financial means. Without the recommended C-section, Abida and her baby may face serious health risks. Attempting a normal delivery after two previous C-sections can increase the risk of uterine rupture, severe bleeding, fetal distress, and other life-threatening complications for both the mother and baby. A timely C-section is essential to ensure their safety and well-being.

Abida is a housewife and lives with her husband and two children in a rented house. Her husband is the sole earning member of the family and works as a driver, earning only PKR 30,000 per month. Out of this modest income, the family pays PKR 10,000 for monthly rent and approximately PKR 3,000 for utility bills, leaving very little to meet other household expenses. With their limited financial resources, affording the cost of Abida’s C-section is impossible for them.

Abida shared her heartfelt plea as follows:

“As I prepare to welcome my third child, my greatest wish is to have a safe delivery and hold my baby in my arms. My husband works hard to support our family, but his income is only enough to cover our daily expenses. Kindly help me undergo this C-section so that my baby and I can remain safe and healthy.”
