Hafeez Ur Rehman's Story

Hafeez Ur Rehman, a 21-year-old man from Mardan, has been living with pain and stiffness in his right hip. As his condition has worsened, even activities like walking, standing for long periods, and carrying out daily tasks have become extremely difficult. After a thorough evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with osteoarthritis of the right hip. Osteoarthritis is a condition in which the protective cartilage of the joint wears away, causing pain, stiffness, and restricted movement. To relieve his pain, the doctor has recommended right-sided Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is far beyond his family’s financial means. If Hafeez does not undergo surgery, he may experience persistent pain, making it more challenging for him to stand, sit, and walk. The condition may worsen over time, leading to joint deformity and further cartilage damage.

Hafeez and his brother hold private jobs. Together, they earn just PKR 30,000 per month to support a household of eight people. The family lives in a rented house, paying PKR 8,000 for monthly rent along with PKR 2,000 for utility bills. They are also burdened with a loan of PKR 100,000, making it impossible to save for his treatment. After meeting their basic household expenses, nothing remains to cover the cost of this life-changing surgery.

Hafeez shared his heartfelt plea as follows:

“I am only 21 years old, but every step I take is painful. I want to work, and live like other young people, but this pain has taken away my strength. My family cannot afford this surgery. Kindly help me undergo this much-needed treatment.”
