Though Humanitarian organizations are experienced in dealing with natural disasters, man-made disasters, or complex emergencies, it simply doesn’t apply that they will be only working at the time of catastrophic events and remain inactive during other times.

There are many humanitarian organizations in Pakistan, that are working to eliminate the prevailing injustice and discrimination in our healthcare system so that every individual can get accessible medical care, medicine, and surgeries without the need to worry about their financial state.

Unfortunately, our healthcare system in Pakistan is also going through deep crises where life-saving facilities are only available to the rich who can pay thousands of bucks for it, while the poor patients are denied to be given any service at all despite their deteriorating health condition. This is a huge upheaval upon humanity where human lives are treated to be lesser than commodities and whatsoever has no value.

The ongoing discrimination in our healthcare system is threatening the health, safety, well-being of poor and needy Pakistanis and many of these helpless patients have died in the past only because of our ignorance.

The Humanitarian Organizations, believe healthcare to be one of the basic human rights and are advocating for the protection and safety of the vulnerable populations that are torn by disease, yet cannot get medical care on time just because they lack the financial strength to do so.

Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a man’s personality. In order to be tough, we don’t need to be heartless or cruel. We should understand that human compassion and kindness are not just mere emotions, but are essential to understand the pain and agony of unfortunate ones. This compassion can give us the moral strength to stand up for the right cause and work hard to improve the lives of others.

Equity in healthcare may seem to be a distant dream to achieve but it is still possible if the civilians come forward to assist and volunteer for the humanitarian organizations, to help them implement their long-term projects and sustainable goals.

Getting basic healthcare is essential to sustain human life so it should be given for free. It is time that we learn to become humane, value human lives, and begin to live like true human beings.

Humanitarian organizations are driven by strong moral and ethical values and take humanitarian actions in grim situations based on humanity. These organizations generally work for the homeless, refugees, victims of natural disasters, wars, and famines.

Humanitarian agencies in Pakistan are also working in our healthcare system to encounter the inhumane acts against poor patients. These organizations are duty-bound to provide free healthcare and medicines to poor patients and also fund their life-saving surgeries.

Humanitarian organizations are obliged to govern humanitarian action and assert the healthcare right of poor populations to ensure that they can live a dignified, mobile, and healthy life without physical discomfort and mental stress.

We need to understand that healthcare isn’t a commercial industry that could be used by business-minded people to derive financial profits for themselves. Healthcare is a sensitive issue and is directly linked with the survival and well being of humans. Thus it is also our responsibility to draw the attention of the government to prevent such filthy-minded people from operating in this sector and take legal actions to stop their inhumane and heinous acts.

The day when health professionals would start giving more priority to human lives than money and every patient would be receiving quality care without discrimination; our nation would see the greatest spiritual explosion of humanity.

The world belongs to all of us and in order to bring a change, we are the ones who should step forward and extend our hands to those in crisis. At this crucial point, humanity needs love, care, compassion, and kindness to survive.

Let us give every individual their rights to get good healthcare and live a dignified life. Let us stand for humanity and fight for human rights.
