When is Ramadan 2027?

When is Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year and one of the most sacred times for Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims fast, repent, give charity, and seek closeness with Allah (SWT). Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam. That’s why Ramadan 2027 is a much-anticipated time of the year for billions of Muslims worldwide. Since the Islamic Hijri calendar has fewer days than the Gregorian calendar, Ramadan usually shifts by about 10 to 11 days, moving up from one Gregorian year to the next.

Ramadan 2027 Expected Start Date

Here are some important dates to mark on your Ramadan 2027 calendar, especially if you’re planning your Ramadan donations:

Expected Ramadan Date in Pakistan

Ramadan 2027 is expected to start on the evening of Sunday, 7th February in Pakistan, with the first day of fasting beginning on 8th February 2027. In Pakistan, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee officially announces Ramadan dates and convenes to verify moon sightings for the Hijri calendar.

Expected Ramadan 2027 Start date in the USA

In the USA, Ramadan could start on 8th February 2027, making 9th February 2027 the first day of fasting. Note that all the mentioned Ramadan 2027 dates are tentative because Islamic months depend on moon sightings.

Expected Ramadan 2027 Start date in the UK

The expected date for Ramadan’s start in the UK is 8th February 2027. Therefore, 9th February, 2027 could be the first fasting day of Ramadan in the UK. If you or any family members are eligible for Fidya, plan your Fidya giving before Ramadan begins.

The Sighting of the Crescent and the Ramadan Moon Dua

Traditionally, Islamic months start with the sighting of the new crescent (Hilal). You can recite the following new moon dua for Ramadan after sighting the new crescent.
Allāhu Akbar. Allāhumma ahillahu ‘alaynā bil-amni wal-īmān, was-salāmati wal-islām, wat-tawfīqi limā tuḥibbu Rabbanā wa tarḍā, Rabbunā wa Rabbukallāh.
“Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, bring us the new moon with security and faith, with peace and Islam, and with success in what our Lord loves and is pleased with. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.” (At-Tirmidhi 5/504, Ad-Darimi 1/336)

As you say your dua for seeing the new moon, you should also make Niyah to extend your assistance to needy people with your Zakat, Sadaqah, and Ramadan donations.

Ramadan’s First Ashra Dua and Expected Dates

The first ten days or Ashra of Ramadan signify divine mercy. We must seek Allah’s (SWT) mercy during this period and worship Him with complete devotion.

  • In Pakistan, the first Ashra spans from 8th to 17th February, 2027.
  • In the USA, the first Ashra may fall between 9th and 18th February, 2027.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ (Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur-raahimeen)

“O my Lord, forgive and have mercy, for You are the best of those who show mercy”. Surah Al-Mu’minun (23:118)

The second Ashra (ten days) of Ramdan signifies Maghfirah or forgiveness. While we fast during this period, we must ask Allah (SWT) for repentance.

  • In the USA, the second Ashra may fall between 19th and 28th February, 2027.

“I seek forgiveness from Allah my Lord for every sin and I repent to Him”.

Ramadan’s Third Ashra Dua and Expected Dates

The third and final Ashra of Ramadan is arguably the most important period of the holy month. Laylatul Qadr falls during this month, and it is one of the most powerful nights in the Islamic calendar.

  • In Pakistan, the third Ashra may start from 28th February to 8th March, 2027.
  • In the USA, the third Ashra may fall between 1st and 9th March, 2027.
  • In the UK, the third Ashra may fall between 1st and 9th March, 2027.

The following is a relevant supplication for the third Ashra:

اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ (Allahumma ajirnī minan nār):

“O Allah, save me from the Fire (Hell)”.(Sunan Abi Dawud, 5079)

You can also recite it as Laylat al-Qadr dua. As humans, we are susceptible to making mistakes. Deliberately breaking a fast is considered a serious sin, for which we must pay Kaffarah.

When is Laylat al-Qadr 2027?

Ramadan is the month of the Quran, and the Quran was revealed on Laylat al-Qadr, known as the Night of Decree. Although the exact occurrence of Laylat al-Qadr isn’t revealed by Allah (SWT), Hadiths indicate that it falls during the last Ashra of Ramadan. Many Muslims observe the 27th of Ramadan as Laylat al-Qadr, but it is better to follow the hadith that suggests that one of the odd-numbered nights of the last Ashra of Ramadan could be Laylat al-Qadr. To earn maximum spiritual rewards of Laylat al-Qadr, you can pay Sadaqah and evenly distribute it across all the odd-numbered nights of the last Ashara.

Any of the following nights could be Laylat al-Qadr 2027 in Pakistan:

21st Night of Ramadan Evening of 27 February 2027
23rd Night of Ramadan Evening of 1 March 2027
25th Night of Ramadan Evening of 3 March 2027
27th Night of Ramadan Evening of 5 March 2027
29th Night of Ramadan Evening of 7 March 2027

Laylat al-Qadr could fall on one of the following nights in the UK and the USA:

21st Night of Ramadan Evening of 28 February 2027
23rd Night of Ramadan Evening of 2 March 2027
25th Night of Ramadan Evening of 4 March 2027
27th Night of Ramadan Evening of 6 March 2027
29th Night of Ramadan Evening of 8 March 2027

When is Eid al-Fitr 2027?

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is celebrated with religious zeal and traditional festivities. The exact date of Eid al-Fitr is contingent on the sighting of the moon. It is one of the two major celebrations in Islam during which fasting is forbidden and festivities are encouraged.

  • In Pakistan, Eid al-Fitr 2027 may fall either on 9th or 10th March, 2027.
  • In the USA, Eid al-Fitr may fall on 10th or 11th March, 2027.
  • In the UK, Eid al-Fitr may fall on 10th or 11th March, 2027.

As you mark these dates in your Ramadan calendar, add a reminder to pay your Zakat al-Fitr on time. Remember that it must be paid before the start of the Eid prayers. Life is short and unpredictable. Let’s pray that Allah (SWT) gives us an opportunity to experience the spiritual blessings of the coming Ramadan. Many Muslims decide to give Zakat al Mal during Ramadan to assist fellow brethren in need. You must not delay your Zakat giving deadlines to wait for Ramdan, but you can give advance Zakat for the coming year during Ramadan to offset your Zakat giving. Ramadan Mubarak, and we wish that this blessed month brings you health, wellness, and Jazak al-Khair.
