Challenges

Landhi Town is the eastern part of the city. Landhi Town was formed in 2001 as part of The Local Government Ordinance 2001 and was subdivided into 9 union councils. The population of Landhi Town was estimated to be over 660,000 at the 1998 census,  Municipal sewage is a major source of water contamination that increases the spread of water-borne diseases. Sewerage lines are not the only problem in Landhi. They are also hazardously close to industrial waste. Due to the consumption of water mixed with sewage, people are suffering from gastric trouble, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Besides these, cough, seasonal allergy, asthma, skin rashes, and asthma are other common health problems in this area.

Our solution 

Transparent Hands plans to arrange a free medical camp in Landhi and preventive healthcare session for deserving patients residing in Landhi, Karachi. The doctors and specialists will provide free consultations, medicines, and the aforementioned diagnostic tests. The patients who need surgeries or other medical treatment will be registered with Transparent Hands and referred to one of our panel hospitals. Transparent Hands, in sponsorship with Soorty Enterprises, recently organized a free medical camp and preventive healthcare session to provide quality healthcare services to patients belonging to underprivileged areas. The free medical camp was held at Soorty Spinning Mills, Unit 11 Landhi, Karachi, Sindh, on November 15, 2022.

Free Consultations, Medicines, and Diagnostic Tests

A total of 461 deserving patients received free consultations from our expert doctors. The patients were also provided free medicines and a wide range of diagnostic tests, including Hepatitis B & C screenings, Malaria, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Uric Acid, Typhoid, and Cholesterol tests.

Most Common Diseases

Most of the patients who sought consultation were suffering from these health problems such as body aches. abdominal pain, cough, fever, diabetes,  hepatitis C, toothache, migraine, chest/throat infection, earache, asthma, kidney stones, liver pain, high blood pressure, seasonal allergies, typhoid, scabies, skin rashes, acidity, and heartburn, 

Preventive Healthcare Session

A doctor held a preventive healthcare session for all attendees at the flood relief camp. The session focused on various preventive measures that needed to be adopted. The doctor discussed the importance of using clean and safe water, practicing good personal hygiene, and the safe disposal of human waste. The attendees were also advised about using mosquito nets and repellents to prevent malaria and dengue.

Impact 

The free medical camp made a difference in the lives of 461 deserving patients and their families. Our camps provided needy people with the necessary diagnostic tests and medicines to cure their ailments. Thousands of donors across the globe are supporting Transparent Hands’ mission to provide quality healthcare facilities free of charge to underprivileged people in different remote areas of the country.
