Shehnaz Bibi's Story

Eight months ago, fifty-five years old Shehnaz Bibi felt a tumor in her breast. At first, she ignored it. But, later, she went to a doctor who advised for biopsy and MRI. After thorough testing, Shehnaz Bibi was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts.

Doctors have recommended Chemotherapy for her cancer treatment. Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses a regime of anti-cancer drugs. The doctor advised a total of ten cycles of Chemotherapy. He got six of these cycles from private hospitals. Now, Shehnaz needs our help with the rest of the four cycles.

Unfortunately, Shehnaz Bibi is in no position to arrange for her Chemotherapy cycles. Shehnaz Bibi’s son is the sole earner of the family. He works on daily wages as a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR 25,000 per month. In this measly income, it is entirely impossible for him to arrange for his mother’s cancer treatment. Shehnaz Bibi told us:

“Ever since the doctor diagnosed me, all my son has done is worry. He constantly worries about me and my health. May God bless his innocent soul. The thought of him makes my heart bleed.”
